I have been running my own business for 28 years and thoroughly enjoy what I do.

My enthusiasm for building started with my dad who had a successful building business himself. I frequently assisted him during school holidays, constructing and repairing old buildings throughout Dorset.

After completing my bricklaying, concreting courses and stonemasonry certificate in the Building Crafts Training School, London.

I then joined the army’s Royal Engineers for 4 years working in Germany, Canada, Denmark and Northern Ireland keeping the peace. This is where I also completed my Advanced Bricklaying Course.

In 1983 I created R.L.Bowring my own building company; early jobs were repairing churches, wall repairs, new extensions and cottage upgrades. The big storms in 1988 led to many roof renewals and repairs. We have carried out works on various modern and historic buildings including fixing the glass panels into the stonework of the Great West Window and the repair of the Monks washing house, Sherborne Abbey.

The organisation has continued to grow and in 2004 we diversified into glass fibre flat roofing after being trained by one of the best suppliers in this field. We are competent in this skill having completed many flat roofs including one 220 metres square.

We moved to Lamorna Carn Stoke sub Hamdon in 2010 and are looking forward to a bright future with the growing organization of Bowring Building Contractors, with our new website and commitment to our new and existing customers.
